BEGINNER WATERCOLOUR PAINTING COURSE. Minimum 6 students - Maximum 12 students The watercolour class runs for 3 hrs from 9:30 am-12:30 pm. The day is to be confirmed. Each class is $59 so the total for the four weeks is $236. Embark on a journey into WATERCOLOURS with our illuminative art class! In this fun and practical beginner's class, you'll be introduced to watercolour painting basics. We will explore everything from composition and colour to the use of this medium, gaining a better understanding of all its exciting techniques and possibilities! Classes rotate through four focused topics: WEEK 1 - WATERCOLOUR FOUNDATIONS 1. You will learn about brushes and how different brushes can give different effects. 2. Learn about brush control to create differing brush strokes. 3. Learn and experiment with 'wet on dry' and 'wet on wet' watercolour painting techniques. 4. Learn how to draw or trace an image to produce artwork in watercolour. 5. Putting all this together to produce a simple artwork of gum leaves. WEEK 2 - COLOUR MIXING AND PERSPECTIVE 1. Learn about the colour wheel and how to mix different colours and varied shades of colour. 2. You will learn about perspective and how to create depth within an artwork. 3. Learn and practice graded and variegated wash techniques. 4. Putting all this together to create a simple landscape. WEEK 3 - CREATING TEXTURES AND LIGHT. 1. Learn to use a variety of techniques and tools to create pattern and textures. 2. You will learn how to create highlights and shadows within your artwork. 3. Learning about creating light-to-dark shades and how to layer shades to create depth. 4. Putting all this together to create small samples of each technique. WEEK 4 - STILL LIFE PAINTING 1. Learning how to create a composition for a still life painting. 2. Finally putting all the techniques learnt through the course to create a beautiful watercolour painting. WHAT IS PROVIDED: *Watercolour paper *Watercolour paints *Images to replicate - or bring your own WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING - OR YOU CAN PURCHASE A PACK ON THE DAY FOR $25: *A variety of brushes *Disposable palate pad or large white plastic or china plate *Fabric rag, approximately 20cm piece You are also welcome to bring any other materials you might have at home that you would like to use.
